'Book Bash' Melds Words, Wine, Music
CAROLE GOLDBERG
Hartford Courant
August 18 2005

Its organizers are billing it as a "humongous book bash," and many Connecticut poets and writers will be on hand
Saturday for the event, which begins at 1 p.m.

The free event, co-sponsored by the Connecticut Review literary journal and IMPAC-Connecticut State University Young Writers Trust, includes live music by the Jen Allen Jazz combo, appearances by local authors and writers and a wine-tasting.

It will take place at Whitlock Farm Booksellers, more commonly known as the Book Barn, in Bethany. The bookshop recently was purchased by New Haven-area lawyer Norm Pattis.

Among the literary lights expected are Jon Andersen, Franz Douskey, Faith Vincinanza, Dan Pope, John Briggs, John Surowiecki (pictured here), Bessy Reyna, Ronald E. Winter, Lou Orfanella, Andy Thibault and Pit Minousek Pinegar.

Whitlock Farms Booksellers is at 20 Sperry Road, Bethany. Information: 203-393-1240.
