Information about the conference:
We anticipate about 120 creative writing students: high school, CSU graduate and undergraduate. About 25 faculty members from the CSU campuses will gather with high school creative writing teachers and former poet laureate Robert Pinsky and a prominent prose writer (yet to be chosen) for the conference. There will be a workshops session from 9:30 to 11. We hope to put 3-5 students together with a workshop leader. Depending on the number of faculty and demand in particular genres, we would also like faculty to co-facilitate workshops and, if they agree, to put their own writing into the mix of the discussion. We ask you about this below. The student and faculty work that will be discussed in the workshop will be available online at least two weeks before the conference. In addition to the workshops, there will be two one hour sessions of three-person panels on different writing topics listed below. Students will be assigned to panels so we can ensure that all the panels have an audience. We have ask you to indicate your preference for participating on panels. The afternoon will be highlighted by talks from a prominent writer.
